Developing Your Own Self Practice

The world of yoga has come so far in modern times. Everywhere we look theres a new pose or a new take on something. Each studio has their own different style of teaching and practicing yoga. I like to keep my warm ups simple and the same each day. Some days I take longer to warm up and practice all of my warm up poses. Other days, when I am in a rush, I pull from the long warm up sequence and create a flow that makes sense for myself in that morning.

Each person is different meaning each person’s practice should be tailored to their needs. A few of my favorite poses that are great for every body are:

Childs Pose: sit down on your knees. bringing knees wide to edges of the mat, hips sinking down towards heels, belly down between legs, hands outstretched forward

Thread the Needle: starting in tabletop, on an inhale reach left arm up to the ceiling, exhale as you bring the left arm down underneath the right leaving your hips high the left ear drops to the mat. Repeat on right side.

Head and Neck Circles, being careful, not participating if you have any neck injuries.

Twists: A great way to raise energy and warm up the spine

There are poses for everyone, together we can build you the perfect warm up sequence to prepare your body for whatever comes next.
